Sandy Chirco

Sandy Biondo Chirco was born in Cinisi, Sicily, and immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1958 with her mother, Fara Biondo (Bozzo), and three sisters: Frances Chianta, Fara Maria Chirco, and Nina Biondo. Her father, Faro Biondo, had arrived in St. Louis three years earlier to establish a home for the family.

Sandy worked at Century Electric/Magnetek/AO Smith, for 26 years before retiring in 2002. In 2017, she became an active member of the Sicilian Cultural Association of St. Louis. Since 2018, she has served as the Cookie Chairperson for the annual San Giuseppe celebration and has contributed to various events, including serving as Picnic Chairperson and participating on the Christmas Party Committee.

Sandy also spearheaded the creation of Buon Mangiata—a cookbook celebrating Sicilian, Italian, and American recipes, compiled by members of the association. In recognition of her dedication and leadership, she was elected to the Board of Directors in 2023.
