My name is Sandy Rivituso Yanko and I have been a member of the Sicilian Cultural Association since 2014. I was sponsored by Frank and Phyllis Sansone who introduced me to the organization. I have volunteered for many of our social functions which include the planning and organizing, setting up, cleaning up, purchasing the children Christmas gifts and making center pieces for the Christmas Party. Plating cookies and setting up for the Feast of St. Joseph and setting up for the annual picnic. I worked our first wine tasting walk on the Hill. In 2025 I was asked to chair the updating and rewriting of the By Laws for the association. The updated By Laws were accepted and passed in 2026. My fathers’ parents were from Palermo, Sicily and unfortunately, we never knew them. I am the oldest of five and my sisters Jo Theodorow and Tina Carroll are also members. I attended Resurrection of our Lord grade school, Cleveland High School and received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fontbonne University. Dennis Yanko and I were married in 2005 by my cousin Arch Bishop Mark Rivituso and live in South County. I have three grown children, 2 surviving on the east coast where they were raised. I worked for the General Services Administration in Washington, DC from 1988-1995 before returning to St. Louis to do hospice for my father in 1995. I also coached competitive cheerleading while in Virginia. My father passed three weeks after my return and I stayed in St. Louis with my mother. I accepted a position at Anheuser Busch and continued coaching cheerleading after a request from the athletic director at MICDS. I retired from Anheuser Busch in 2008 when InBev purchased the brewery. I retired from coaching cheerleading in 2016 after 32 years of coaching at various levels. My favorite the college level where I could teach three tier level stunts. My last eight years were spent at Ursuline Academy.
